Workshops/Intensives
Awardees may select a workshop or intensive of their choice. The workshop or intensive must take place within one year after the scholarship period ends. This ensures that the awardee can take full advantage of class benefits during the scholarship term.
The scholarship will only fund workshop/intensive tuition costs. It will not fund travel, application fees, or other related expenses. The scholarship reserves the right to reject an awardees’ choice of a workshop or intensive due to financial or any other reason. In this case, the scholarship will work with the awardee to select a different workshop or intensive.
Scholarship Responsibilities
and Policies
Awardees are responsible for the following throughout the duration of the scholarship:
Take the three classes per week at Gibney Dance provided by the scholarship (attendance will be tracked by Gibney Dance)
Take part in one workshop or intensive in the year following the scholarship period
Participate in mentoring sessions with Alexandra Beller
Continue to take additional classes and/or workshops outside of those subsidized by the scholarship
Submit a monthly journal in order to document training activity outside the scholarship and general thoughts on training progress
Complete 2-3 surveys over the course of the scholarship
Attendance Policy
It is expected that the awardee's schedule will allow them to take the three classes per week provided by the scholarship in addition to their current training schedule. However, we understand that there are many demands on a dancer's time, including rehearsals, auditions, performance opportunities, injury, and other necessities.
Therefore, we understand that it may not be possible for the awardee to use all three subsidized classes every week. These classes may be made up in a subsequent week during that same month. If a pattern of not using the weekly subsidized classes continues for more than four weeks, the scholarship may be discontinued.
Injury Policy
Injuries that prevent awardees from dancing for more than four consecutive weeks will work with the scholarship to determine whether the scholarship will be discontinued.
The scholarship may be discontinued for awardees who:
No longer meet the Scholarship Responsibilities above
No longer meet the Application Requirements listed on the Application page
